‘Thank you for saving our stores’

People came out in numbers to protect their local Spar shopping centres

Shops and business across Zululand suffered extensive damage during the unrest of the past week. However, it is with a grateful heart that we can say not a single Spar in the Giannacopoulos Group was looted. This is thanks to the incredible service by our fellow Zululanders, who came out in numbers to protect their local Spar shopping centres. They selflessly did what was needed to fend off any looter and at 5Five Ways Mall literally formed a human chain to keep any intruder at bay.

Harry Giannacopoulos, owner 5Five Ways Spar, Lakeside Spar, Town Square Spar, Meerensee Spar and Andrews Spar, says he and his management are truly grateful and deeply touched by the gesture.

“A big thank you to our community heroes, members of the CPF, as well as the authorities. Our sincere thanks goes out to all in our community for your continued support and dedication.”

‘Thank you, also, to those who were willing to spend hours waiting in queues to buy their essentials. Thank you for your patience.’
