Tribute to a wonderful dad this Father’s Day

A Richards Bay daughter celebrates her loving, present father as her superhero, role model, and safe place in a touching Father's Day tribute.

If you don’t believe in superheroes, you haven’t met my dad.

No, he doesn’t wear a cape. He wears the mighty armour of God.

He loved me before I was even born. He cared for me before he had even seen me.

He watched and waited as I grew in my mother’s womb, excited to meet his daughter.

Many people believe that nurturing and comforting are roles reserved for mothers, but fathers can be gentle too. They can be a source of comfort and safety.

I remember going to Grade R in tears. Sometimes I would even pretend to be sick just so I could see my dad. I would cry until my face turned red.

That’s how attached I was to him. He has always been my role model.

Through his words and actions, he taught me what it means to be a good man, even though I am his daughter.

Thank you, Jesus, for blessing me with such a loving father.

And thank you, Dad, for being present in my life. Thank you for being my safe place, my role model, and my best friend.

Behind every amazing daughter is a strong father.
Happy Father’s Day.
Love,
