Fire destroys several houses in Phalaborwa

According to reports, a major fire has already ravaged at least 20 houses in the Limpopo town.

What started as a veldfire has reached a blaze that, according to reports, has swept through the town of Phalaborwa.

Social activist Yusuf Abramjee tweeted that 20 houses have been razed by the runaway veldfire on the outskirts of the town.

According to Tzaneen Voice, an unconfirmed number of people have been injured.

The publication reported that the town’s residents are working together to prevent further disaster as most homes in the area have thatched roof lapas.

There were no official statements released by the Ba-Phalaborwa Municipality at the time of publication.

This is a developing story.
