Security guards found dead at Mossel Bay waste transfer station
Circumstances surrounding the death of two on-duty security guards are being investigated after their bodies were found with gunshot wounds.
Two security guards were found shot dead at the Louis Fourie Road garbage transfer station in Mossel Bay this morning.
The station is closed currently due to a police investigation.
The Mossel Bay Municipality noted on its Facebook page that the guards at the transfer station were found dead before 07:00, reportedly due to gunshot wounds.
The police, municipal law enforcement services and forensic services were on the scene.
Mossel Bay Advertiser has since confirmed the duo were found at approximately 05:30 and that both guards were residents of Asla Park.
The police’s communications officer, Warrant Officer Kappie Kapp, said the victims were 28 years old. Their identity cannot yet be disclosed because their family has not yet been informed of their death.
According to Kapp, the two security guards were on duty at the time of the incident. “Both were shot.”
The circumstances of the incident are being investigated and anyone with information is requested to contact the investigating officer in the case on 044 606 5633.
