Comedy night raises big bucks for autism
Autism and Behavioural Learning Environment Centre fundraisers jump for joy.
SHOWING their rock-solid support for Zululand’s autistic children, the community raised more than R72 000 for the ABLE (Autism and Behavioural Learning Environment) Centre at a comedy charity event held last Friday.
Event organisers Candice Olivier and Elsa Ritchie from Just Two Beautiful Events Division, handed over the large cheque at the Meerensee school on Friday leaving ABLE Centre Manager Elitza Marais both ecstatic and astonished.
‘The amount of money raised for this school is incredible,’ said Elitza.
‘This will really help us prepare new classes to accommodate more children.
‘I can’t put in words the gratitude I feel towards Candice and Elsa for the amazing work they did in putting the event together as well as all the people who participated and donated funds for this school.’
In response, the organisers said Autism is very close to their hearts, especially with Elsa having an Autistic son who is a pupil at ABLE Centre.
‘We were excited and honoured to be involved.
‘We love every moment of putting a function together, but this event, in particular, was a huge blessing and heaps of fun from start to finish.
‘We have been blown away by our communities’ love and enthusiasm.
‘This is an annual event which we are sure will become a highlight on the calendar.’
