Celebrate Easter with a difference
An Easter message by Rev V Benjamin from Living Stones Baptist Church.

EASTER to many people is a time of bunny rabbits, chocolates, moulds, hot-cross buns, etc.
Yes, they do play a part but does it really emphasise the essence of Easter?
Could it be that there is something more than all of the listed items?
Let us consider a few aspects pertaining to the Easter celebration.
Seeing that the human race was slanted towards sin, a Saviour was needed to save them.
Apart from somebody perfect, anybody or anything else could not be adequate enough to pay for the sins of the entire human race.
Therefore, in the past, all sacrifices (animals) could only appease God, but failed to please Him.
Then, who was going to be the substitute to die for the human race and pay for their sins in full?
We realise that only God can please God. Therefore, Jesus, God’s son, being God in the flesh (Immanuel), came to earth to die for the sins of humanity.
What was so different with Jesus? As much as He was man (took on the human form-flesh), he was still God – the sinless one, in whom there was no guile.
The fact of Jesus being unique, in not having any sin, is not only recorded in the Holy Bible, but it is even stated in other religious books.
Despite Jesus being rejected and treated harshly by His very own people, He accomplished what He was sent to do: die for the entire human race.
He died in our stead. In Him dying, everybody and everything abandoned Him, because He had to die alone.
The punishment of our sins was laid upon Him – for He who knew no sin, became sin for us on the cross of Calvary.
Christ’ death that Friday made it our ‘Good Friday’ because He died to bring and give us good news.
Even death could not keep Him down. Thus, when Jesus died, He went through the grave and resurrected in the early hours of Sunday morning.
Jesus dying for our sins and coming back to life was proof enough that He is Lord even over death – the grave could not hold Him.
Therefore, if you simply accept Christ as your Saviour, your sins are paid in full and this Easter can be celebrated with a difference.
