ZULULAND children joined their peers countrywide to write messages of hope for recovering victim Henno Smit during a fund-raising event at the Nkwalini Farmer’s Hall on Sunday.
Nine-year-old Henno of Piet Retief was injured in a bicycle accident on 4 February and left paralysed from his neck down.
Family and friends believe that Henno will prove doctors wrong by one day walking and running again.
He is currently undergoing an intensive 12-week rehabilitation programme at a Pretoria Hospital.
The farming fraternity and community members of Nkwalini came out in full support of the ‘Music in the Park’ fund-raising event organised by locals – Vernon and Janet Tocknell.
Featuring Dave Starke from eShowe, it was an entertaining and relaxing afternoon for the entire family with all proceeds going to the ‘Hope for Henno’ trust fund.
Henno has already amazed doctors with his miraculous movements and is continuing to make daily progress.
His progress can be followed on ‘Hope for Henno’ on Facebook and the community is encouraged to send him messages of hope and support.
