Make way – classroom coming through
Richards Bay businesses support set up of new school.
THE costly exercise of transporting a prefabricated building across town was greatly reduced for a new Richards Bay school when local businesses stepped in to offer their services free of charge.
Global Christian Academy in Arboretum opened this year and recently acquired an additional mobile unit to convert into a classroom.
They approached Sky Rigging, NRB Logistics and Anglo -V3 Crane Hire to assist with the transportation from the Alton site to the school premises at the Assembly of God church.
According to school founder Marcel Mey, the school saved closed to R50 000 thanks to the sponsorships from the businesses who contributed their equipment, time and services.
In an effort to give back to local businesses who support the school, Mey has introduced Global Treats, a mobile tuck shop facility which is stationed at the school during the week and is used to generate funds at community events and promotions over the weekends.
The trailer provides businesses with an opportunity to have their branding displayed on the unit as an marketing initiative in return for their contributions to help advance and support the school.
