Resource to overcome substance abuse addiction
New book release aims to help recovering substance abuse addicts.
A MTUBATUBA resident, Bradley Payne, has used his experience in overcoming a lifelong struggle with substance abuse as the basis of his new book, ‘Addiction Success’ which aims to help others escape substance abuse and maintain sobriety.
The inspiration behind the book was that he learnt, during his own treatment process, that unless you experience a fundamental transformation from within, failure is almost guaranteed.
‘While traditional treatment is there to help, you are ultimately responsible for your life,’ said Payne.
Whether one is a scholar, average person, intellectual or not, wealthy or less fortunate, the core principles of successful recovery are the same.
The book is designed to facilitate the true realisation of one’s transformation by providing the core information required to facilitate treatment, support and counsel, the maintenance of sobriety and the discovery of a person’s full potential.
According to Payne, the book is based on his personal experience and formal training in addiction recovery which has been translated into the principles of addiction recovery; beneficial to the addict as well as those affected by the ripple effects of substance abuse.
‘Addiction is a complicated disease and there are no short cuts to recovery. The book, while it reflects personal experience, is a fundamental account of the scientific and psychological principles of addiction recovery.
‘These are the ‘must have’ ingredients to successful recovery; anything less, will translate to a weakness in the recovery of an addict and to the efforts of a support, facilitator or counsellor.
‘I believe that anyone who reads the book, addict or not, will find the principles of success truly motivational and inspiring. This is not a re-invention, but a demonstration of the tried and proven principles of success evident in the lives of successful people.
‘Maybe we all need to be a little addicted to life, success and happiness; you haven’t lived until you have recovered,’ said Payne.
Bradley Payne offers both individual and group counseling and can be contacted on 079 8592831 or email brad@addictionsuccess.co.za.
The book is available on the website www.addictionsuccess.co.za and khlahari.com.
He will be promoting the book at the Boardwalk Inkwazi Shopping Centre until 4 May.
