Two drown in Richards Bay

Ocean baptism ends in sadness.

POLICE are combing the shoreline and the sea waters north of Richards Bay after a teen went missing, presumed drowned, during a baptismal ceremony near Five Mile Beach on Sunday morning.

The 15-year-old Mzingazi male apparently disappeared in the waves while being immersed during the service, at about 10am.

In another incident on Sunday afternoon, one child drowned and another was resuscitated when they got into trouble while swimming between the Bay Hall and Pelican Island.

An NSRI crew responded and one young boy was taken by I.C.E. ambulance personnel to Netcare The Bay Hospital and later discharged.

Sadly, a seven-year-old girl lost her life in the incident and her body was recovered on scene.
