King Misuzulu to join yoga event in Durban

Event to highlight yoga as a powerful and accessible tool for longevity and stress reduction

As a champion for healthy ageing, King Misuzulu kaZwelithini is participating in International Yoga Day celebrations in Durban on Sunday.

This is officially the largest International Yoga Day in South Africa, fostering global peace by the Sivananda World Peace Foundation.

Operating under the 2026 theme, Yoga for Anti-ageing, the event highlights yoga as a powerful and accessible tool for longevity and stress reduction.

“Yoga promotes social cohesion and harmony among our people. I am impressed by the foundation’s work in rural communities, schools and religious institutions,” said King Misuzulu.

“I will, this year, join the Sivananda World Peace Foundation and millions of people across the world to encourage people to adopt yoga as a healthy lifestyle.”

The king said that the Sivananda World Peace Foundation has made significant contributions to grassroots development across KZN.

“By bringing people of different backgrounds together, the foundation uses yoga to celebrate unity in diversity and to bridge cultural divides.

“Their specialised wellness programmes are taken directly into rural communities, schools and religious institutions, providing vulnerable groups with practical tools to cope with daily stress, enhance physical fitness, and improve overall well-being,” he said.
