CELEBRATING his 92nd birthday with friends, family and church members on Sunday was Pastor Steven Ramsamy Paul of SR Paul Ministries.
The well-respected man of God was very emotional after watching a slide-show at his church in Alton, which documented his life’s journey over the years.
Described by his family as being a ‘living legend’, Pastor SR Paul has pushed through many trials and tribulations to get to where he is today.
Back in 1940 when he decided to give his life to God, he was sadly rejected by his family, and left to fend for himself. Believing that God ordained him with a purpose-driven life, Pastor SR Paul pursued his faith and was eventually inducted as a Pastor.
‘I thank God for sparing me and giving me physical strength to go on. God has been good to me. My advice to you is to love God and love one another,’ Pastor SR Paul said.
He was part of Zululand Ministries and one of the leading members on the team which led to the founding of the Brackenham suburb.
After going to Parliament to appeal for a worship site in Brackenham, he received an Honorary Degree of Ministry from Bethesda Bible College.
His son, Eric joked that it was ‘the cinnamon powder in his jungle oats that keeps dad going’.
