SPCA gets R10 000 from engineering company

SBS Engineering challenges others to 'beat it'.

SBS ENGINEERING employees handed over a whopping R10 000 to the Richards Bay SPCA with one message to other companies – ‘try and beat our donation’.

The non-profit animal welfare organisation has been in dire straits, waiting for the City of uMhlathuze Municipality to recognize and remunerate local SPCAs as service providers.

‘If we don’t get funding from the municipality soon, we will be forced to close our doors,’ said the Bay SPCA Chairperson Anne-Mare Coetzee.

The donation from SBS Engineering will go a long way in helping the struggling organisation cover costs of day-to-day operations.

But as the SPCAs are currently completely dependent on donations from businesses and members of the public, SBS’ Simon Bosman said more companies need to step forward to ensure Zululand’s abused, neglected and lost animals have a safe haven to depend on for years to come.

‘We challenge other companies to help this worthy organisation,’ said Simon.

‘Try and beat our contribution to support the SPCA.’

The staff also thanked CEO Ravis Reddy for signing off on the large cheque.

Other generous businesses who last week came to the rescue were Promac and Coastal Legal Compliance Services (CLCS), which together donated 40 bags of dog food worth R3 000.

‘We sincerely thank these wonderful businesses for all their support – every cent and pellet truly counts,’ said Coetzee.
