WHEN retirement left her leisure time, Lerner Pretorius ventured into a new project to keep her creatively occupied while fulfilling the need to invest back into the community.
Her attention was captured by the Zululand Observer’s charity arm, DICE (Do I Care Enough?) and she set out to knit her very first blankets in aid of the needy.
‘I initially tried crocheting, but the squares came out skew and so I hunted for a knitting pattern.
‘When I found the right one, I was well on my way.’
While also taking care of her family and lending a helping hand everywhere, she now knits whenever she has a spare moment, knowing that her work of love will literally warm many hearts for years to come.
