A WEAKENING of the rand to the US dollar has forced the Department of Energy to adjust fuel prices.
95 unleaded petrol will increase by four cents a litre while 93 unleaded will decrease by two cents a litre on Wednesday.
‘If the rand had stayed at the same level, on average, against the US dollar as it was in August, the prices of petrol would be decreasing by 25 to 30c/l and diesel would be increasing by 20c/l,’ the department said.
Wholesale prices of both diesel grades, the maximum price of LPG and the prices of Paraffin will also increase.
Diesel will increase by between 51c and 53c, paraffin by between 50c and 67c while LPG will increase by 11c per kilogram.
