Fire destroys home for the disabled

Two people were rescued from a burning building in eSikhaleni this morning.

THE Zamani Disabled People’s Organisation building in eSikhaleni burnt to the ground in the early hours of the morning.

Two residents were trapped inside the building when flames engulfed the rooms just after midnight.

Within minutes eSikhaleni police were on the scene, and called the fire department who promptly responded to the call.

The two people managed to escape the blaze unharmed, however all their belongs were destroyed.

‘I really don’t know what started the fire, but we thank God that we managed to escape. Material things can always be replaced but human lives are more important,’ said Zamani secretary Phumlani Zulu.

Police are investigating the cause of the fire.
