GALLERY: Two dead, seven injured in R34 head-on smash
Passengers were thrown clear of the bakkie that came to rest on top of the barricade.

TWO people died and a further seven people were injured when a car and bakkie collided on the R34 about 20km outside Empangeni earlier today.
A female driver and a male passenger in the bakkie died on impact.
Six passengers who were on the back of the bakkie, underneath a canopy were flung clear down a small embankment, as the vehicle overturned, coming to rest on its roof on top of the barricade.
The driver of the bakkie was seriously injured, while the other passengers’ injuries range from serious to mild.
According to KZN EMS spokesperson, Robert McKenzie, the patients were all transported to hospital by ambulance.
