Taxi, vehicle collide in early morning crash near N2 bridge
Empangeni collision between light motor vehicle and a taxi laden with a soccer team leaves multiple people injured
Multiple people were injured when two vehicles collided on the R34 John Ross highway in the vicinity of the N2 bridge on Saturday morning.
The accident involved a taxi transporting a soccer team and a light motor vehicle with five occupants.
Six people sustained minor injuries, with 4 being transported to Ngwelezana clinic for further treatment.
The driver of the taxi was entrapped when the incident occurred, but was extricated by members of the public and sustained minor injuries.
It is further reported that the driver of the light motor vehicle was arrested by the SAPS at the scene for allegedly being above the legal alcohol limit.
All emergency services were on scene shortly after the accident occurred just before 6am. The scene has since been cleared.
