DA resurrects branch in Nkandla

The DA in KZN has resurrected their branch in Nkandla, saying President Zuma has ‘neglected’ residents.

THE Democratic Alliance in KZN has re-opened their branch in Nkandla, saying the president has ‘neglected’ residents.

A similar move in 2011 failed, but the party is confident this time they will garner the support they need.

‘People can clearly see that the government under Zuma is not going to change their lives for the better, they now want a Party that can offer them a true alternative,’ said uThungulu DA constituency head, Ann McDonnell in a statement.

KZN DA leader Zwakele Mncwango took to Facebook yesterday just after the opening ceremony at sports field in Nkandla, some 20km away from President Zuma’s infamous homestead.

‘People came in numbers as we give hope. President Zuma soon will call [a] DA councillor for basic services or proof of address,’ read his post, along with a picture of him speaking to people wearing DA shirts inside a tent.

The DA will be pushing to get councillors elected to the municipality, and grow interest in the party.

ANC MP Dennis Gamede told News24 he was not at all worried about the opening of the DA branch in his constituency.
