Richards Bay church supports needy families

Local church supports need families

REACHING out to the needy is an integral part of the Philadelphia Missionary Centre’s activities, and during the weekend, members dedicated their afternoon to visiting ten needy families in eNseleni to do ministry and distribute much needed groceries, vegetables and clothing.

The Richards Bay church is part of the International Assemblies of God and they have been actively involved in helping families and orphanages in different communities in Mzingazi, Nhlabane and Enseleni.

Beneficiaries are not necessarily members of the church, but have been identified by the centre’s fund-raising committee tasked with going into surrounding communities and identifying the needs of the people.

Heading up the centre, Pastor Rhema Divin Ngoy said, ‘Christianity is not about making money, but about people, winning souls and assisting those in need.

‘As Christians we need to learn to exercise hospitality and generosity and to bless and help others.

‘Earlier this year we supported 15 needy children by paying for their school fees and purchasing school uniforms and stationary.

‘We are also aware of the work done by our police and will also be making a donation of food, clothing and money to the Richards Bay Police Station to encourage them to keep up the good work in helping victims of abuse and trauma,’ said Ps Divin Ngoy.
