UPDATE: Felixton water woes continue
Felixton residents continue to battle without consistent running water
LOW water pressure and frequent water cuts have become the norm for Felixton residents over the past few months, but after a visit last week from the KZN Department of Health, there may now be a glimmer of hope.
Previously contaminated water has now been cleared for drinking, although some residents remain skeptical and continue to use bottled water.
Water provided by tankers was also tested and cleared.
While a lack of running water is still a major issue, many residents have had to make complete lifestyle changes to adapt to the inconvenience, including staff and pupils of Felixton College.
Water tanks have been placed throughout the school, with one connected directly to the bathrooms to provide running water.
A number of 20 litre water points have also been set up around the school for pupils.
‘It has been a challenge, but we have been very lucky to have been visited by water tankers on a daily basis, providing us with clean water for our staff and pupils,’ said Headmaster Craig Neave.
