NUPSAW Enock Ntsele’s dedication to workers praised

The union was in good hands

THERE are very few unionists who are truly passionate about the workers’ struggles.

Many tend to put their interests above that of the workers. Some go as far as enriching themselves at the expense of the poor workers.

This was the view of the Regional Chairperson of the National Union of Public Service and Allied Workers (NUPSAW), Thabiso Zulu, speaking at the farewell function of former NUPSAW Regional Chairperson Enock Ntsele held at the Ngwelezana Hospital.

‘We are happy that Mr Nsele was one unionist who dedicated his entire life fighting for workers’ rights. He distinguished himself as an outstanding trade unionist.

‘Under his able leadership he managed to establish six branches in the King Cetshwayo District. He was also involved in the establishment of the Independent Management Labour Committee (IMCC) within all health institutions,’ Zulu said.

‘While bidding him farewell, we know that we will still use his expertise in some activities when the need arises.’

Ntsele served on the regional structure of NUPSAW from 2008 to 2017. NUPSAW is one of the unions affiliated to the new kid on the block, the South African Federation of Trade Unions (SAFTU) led by former COSATU boss Zwelinzima Vavi.

In his reply Ntsele said he would never abandon the workers’ struggle, even if he was no longer in the limelight.
