New shopping mall to create job opportunities for Nkandla residents
Nkandla’s R180m retail centre breaks ground, promising hundreds of jobs for locals, boosting economic growth.
A MASSIVE investment project worth R180m is expected to create hundreds of job opportunities and uplift the economy of the Nkandla area.
Nkandla Mayor Nonhlanhla Nzuza, accompanied by her executive members, councillors and various stakeholders, on Tuesday conducted a sod-turning to mark the official construction of Nkandla Retail Centre.

“This sod-tuning event means the beginning of construction work. The developer, Florand Pty Ltd, will build a high-standard mall, not just a mediocre structure. We are not going to source workers outside our municipal boundaries. Only residents will benefit from job opportunities,” said the mayor.
She said the new mall aims to enhance the economic landscape and community prosperity, and that jobs would go only to Nkandla locals.

“The project demonstrates readiness to proceed with strong municipal support and a professional delivery framework in place. I am excited that this day has come. This mall will have various and multiple shops, and banks that residents have been wanting,” she said.
Nzuza added that Nkandla has actively attracted more investors in recent years, with Public Works Minister Dean Macpherson and KZN Premier Thami Ntuli last year handing over title deeds allowing the land to be developed.
