Fatal accident brings N2 to a standstill

Two serious accidents clogged an already busy N2 this evening (Sunday)

MOTORISTS travelling the N2 this evening (Sunday) had their travel plans severely disrupted as more than one accident saw certain stretches of the freeway closed.

The first accident occurred just before 7pm near the Mposa exit, rendering the northbound carriageway closed and traffic backing up to beyond the eNseleni on-ramp.

The accident involved two vehicles which left one person killed and four others with moderate and minor injuries.

The four occupants in this vehicle sustained moderate and minor injuries

The injured were taken to hospital for treatment.

A further four people were later injured in a separate accident near the Engen petrol station, also on the N2.

According to Tracy Coertse of Meditrax Ambulance Service who attended the Mposa accident scene, the N2 was very busy.

Both accidents will be the subject of police investigations.
