All eyes on Cele for extradition treaty

Last month Mbalula announced that the South African and Mozambican governments would be working on an extradition treaty to combat cross-border crime

FOLLOWING his recent appointment as Minister of Police, Bheki Cele is reportedly prioritising the issue of cross-border crime at the Mozambican border.

This week the ZO spoke to a member of Cele’s department who revealed that a handover had been conducted between Cele and former Police Minister, Fikile Mbalula, on Monday and that Cele would be concentrating on dealing with border crime.

It has been an ongoing issue, dating back to the years in which Cele was the MEC for Transport in KZN, some 10 years ago.
