RBM employees march tomorrow

National Union of Mineworkers (NUM)-affiliated workers to march to Richards Bay Minerals

Richards Bay Minerals (RBM) has confirmed a planned, peaceful march by National Union of Mineworkers (NUM)-affiliated employees, to take place tomorrow (Wednesday).

In a statement today, RBM explained that a memorandum of grievances is expected to be handed to management after the march, adding that the company respects employees’ right to raise concerns through lawful and peaceful channels.

“The company values its relationship with recognised trade unions and remains committed to constructive engagement in the interest of employees and the long-term sustainability of the business,” the statement reads.

“As 7 October also marks World Day for Decent Work, RBM reaffirms its commitment to a safe, respectful and inclusive workplace, and where concerns can be raised and heard. Rio Tinto’s values of Care, Courage and Curiosity guide how we work together and engage on matters that affect employees.”
