Low possibility of load-shedding today
Eskom last night (Thursday) announced a termination of stage two load-shedding
AFTER a week of heavy load-shedding nationwide, Eskom last night (Thursday) announced the termination of stage two load-shedding and a low possibility of power interruptions today.
The statement was issued at 10pm, in which Eskom said that ‘notable strides’ had been made in replenishing water and diesel reserves, and that there had been improvements in generation performance.
‘Eskom is not likely to implement load-shedding on Friday,’ said the ailing power utility.
‘We thank South Africans and all our customers for working with us through a very difficult five days.

‘The power system, however, remains tight and vulnerable, and while Eskom is making every effort to limit load-shedding, it could be implemented at short notice should there be a shift in plant performance.
‘This could include a significant loss in generating plant owing to unplanned technical breakdowns.’
Eskom said recent heavy rains could impact coal handling and feeding to the boilers, with a potential impact on generation production.
The utility did, however, say it had rain-readiness plans to manage the risk of wet coal.
‘We continue to appeal to residents and businesses to use electricity sparingly during this period.
‘Please switch off geysers as well as all non-essential lighting and electricity appliances to assist in reducing demand.’
