A police report indicates that Dumakude escaped from the court holding cell after climbing onto a wall and pulling out a window before jumping to freedom.
He was waiting to appear for common robbery he allegedly committed in the Richards Bay CBD the previous day.
King Cetshwayo cluster police spokesperson, Captain Mbongeni Mdlalose, said Dumakude now faces an additional charge of escaping from lawful custody.
‘He appeared in court on Thursday last week and was remanded in custody for further investigation.
‘The state will oppose any bail application,’ said Mdlalose.
