WATCH: Richards Bay angler has got the luck of the Irish

Last weekend, he caught a 24kg garrick while at anchor and this weekend he hooked a 27kg salmon

RICHARDS Bay’s Michael Human is like an Irish leprechaun at the moment, the only difference is that his pot at the end of the rainbow has come in the form of big fish at the end of his fishing rod.

Michael, who lives on his yacht Freedom, has caught two super-sized fish over two consecutive weekends at the Zululand Yacht Club moorings.

While most anglers have to fuel up their boats and travel long distances to sea to catch fish, Michael just slides a razor belly down his line off his boat and relaxes and lets the live bait do the work for him.

Last weekend, he caught a 24kg garrick while at anchor, which not only gave him a good fight, but also landed up tasting lekker in the pot.

On Saturday, his luck struck again, when he caught a 27kg salmon, proving that his luck has not run dry yet.

While some rock and surf anglers sit for hours on end waiting to catch these beautiful species, Michael just relaxes in his own comfortable space and carries on with daily routines, until his rod starts to run.
