Zululand company celebrates 35 years in business

GANS Motor Spares marks 35-year milestone

Self-drive, ambition and perseverance marked the opening of the well-acclaimed store – Gans Motor Spares – back in 1985. Gan and Vanitha Moopen saw a demand in new and used motor parts in Zululand and took the leap to establish their first business in the area.

The store initially began in a very little building in Ngwelezane Road, Empangeni, with a staff compliment of just three employees.

Gan and his staff’s dedication in sourcing new and used parts to suit their customers’ requirements, created a thriving business that grew from pillar to strength.

The 1990s welcomed the move of premises from Ngewelezane Road to a much bigger premises in Durnford Road, Empangeni, to house a wider and much more diverse range of stock.

During this era, several GANS branches were opened in the various districts, in closer proximity to the company’s clientele. The aim was to reach out to its loyal consumers, to retain and create better customer relations. Hence, the introduction of the GANS Midas stores in Richards Bay, Mtubatuba and eventually, another Midas opening in Empangeni.

Over 35 years since its inception, Gan and Vanitha, along with their 110 current employees, have worked tirelessly and with much dedication and commitment to grow the company to where it is today, and most importantly, to ensure that each and every consumer that either walks into the store, or calls for a product, that their requirements are met with the utmost satisfaction.

Gans Motor Spares aspires to be the number one supplier in the North Coast region.
