ZULULAND cricket ace Kyle Abbott will have a point to prove to critics who think he is past his sell-by date when he represents the Titans in their opening Momentum One Day Cup pool match against his former employer, the Hollywoodbets Dolphins, in Potchefstroom on Saturday.

The Pretoria franchise signed Abbott for the new season.

Last year Abbott resorted to fishing the Durban waters after not playing for almost 12 months owing to the Covid-19 pandemic, but he is now all pumped up to get into action, starting with tormenting the Dolphins batsmen

The 33-year-old will bring a wealth of experience to the fold, having played for the Proteas, Dolphins, Hampshire, as well as numerous international T20 gigs, including the Indian Premier League.

The 50-over competition will be played in a bio-bubble in Potchefstroom, and the Titans face a busy start.

After their Dolphins assignment on Saturday, the Titans will face the Knights on Monday.
