Interested in pursuing a career in beauty? Enrolments for 2021 are now open at International Health & Beauty Academy (IHB), a nationally and internationally accredited training institution, situated in Empangeni.
The Academy has trained hundreds of internationally qualified therapists over the past 19 years. The academy was started by Louise Gelderblom in 2002 and her daughter, Mica Jackson, took over the management of the college in 2015.
IHB offers courses in:
- Level 2 Beauty Specialist Diploma
- Level 3 Holistic Diploma
- Level 3 Spa Diploma
- Level 3 Reflexology Diploma
IHB is passionate about meeting the highest standards required by the industry in order to produce highly skilled and qualified therapists who can market themselves effectively and look forward to a personal successful career. With an IHB qualification, young therapists can work on the Steiner Cruise Liners and spas overseas.
‘We offer a yearly introduction with a Steiner representative to inform our students how to get acceptance with the correct qualifications to work overseas. Graduates are also well-equipped to start their own businesses,’ explains owner Mica Jackson.
Teaching Methods
Small classes allow for personalised, one-on-one learning where students’ progress is closely followed and monitored. Learning programmes are outcomes based and skills are practiced an applied in a way that simulates a working environment and are designed to include theoretical and practical components.
Students are taught in units/modules and are continually assessed. To qualify, students must display their competence in all areas of training in order to demonstrate their occupational competence.
