Hillside Aluminium advises that due to an issue with the supply of filter bags for the Gas Treatment Centres, it is aware that white powder has been found on some properties in the Richards Bay area. Hillside Aluminium has taken samples where fallout has occurred and laboratory analysis has confirmed that this white powder is alumina.

Alumina is non-toxic and does not pose any risk to health. Alumina is a common element in many household products, and normal cleaning of surfaces and sweeping will remove the product.

The delivery of the specialised filter bags required for the Gas Treatment Centres from our supplier has been impacted by Covid-19. We are working with the supplier to expedite the delivery of these bags.
