Adopt-a-Spot volunteers are continuing their mission to clean up and beautify Ngwelezana, despite many hurdles and being fraught with a lack of financial support

ADOPT-a-Spot volunteers are continuing their mission to clean up and beautify Ngwelezana, despite many hurdles and being fraught with a lack of financial support.

The campaign, which keeps gaining momentum, seeks to rejuvenate the township’s image, thereby attracting investment and visitors.

Starting months back, the team has cleaned rubble in the communal areas, cut overgrown grass, and cleared out stormwater drains and pathways.

The dedicated team of volunteers is currently working in Nyamazane Crescent, clearing more drains and improving the area with new grass, plants and flowers.

‘This space was once bushy and neglected which made it to be a hot spot for crime and illegal dumping,’ said project founder Mpendulo Mbulawa.

‘The stormwater drain was also blocked, but we are now turning this space into an eco-park and community garden.’

To assist the group with any donations, contact Mpendulo on 073 0066585.
