Roads agency warns of tender scam
Contractors warned not to fall prey to phishing scams relating to tenders
The South African National Roads Agency (Sanral) has warned of an ongoing scam targeting contractors.
The roads agency said contractors and engineers are being contacted using a fake email purporting to be from a Sanral executive.
The fraudster has reportedly been reaching out to companies, requesting they contact him directly on his mobile number regarding tenders that are currently open and those that have been closed.
“The supposed email requests contractors and consultants to contact the executive on 060 5068092 regarding various contracts that are at tender stage.
“Sanral places it on record that the supposed email does not emanate from any staff member or their email addresses.
“The mobile number used also does not belong to any employee of Sanral,” said spokesperson Vusi Mona, assuring the public that the matter is being investigated.
