Mtuba teen on the road to SA Dance Champs
Cyden is a member of the Dance Academy in Empangeni and has been running the Dance Academy Mtuba branch for the past three years.
CYDEN Boshoff is a 17-year-old Mtubatuba youngster who found her passion for dancing at the tender age of four.
Her love for dance began with ballet, which gave her the grounding in the fundamentals.

She then moved on to modern, contemporary and hip-hop dancing at age 11.
Cyden is a member of the Dance Academy in Empangeni and has been running the Dance Academy Mtuba branch for the past three years.
The Richards Bay High School student has proven to be a top class mentor to all the young dancers in her classes.
In June, Cyden participated in the semi-final round of the SA Championships of Performing Arts (SACOPA) in Durban, performing three solo events in the modern contemporary, lyrical and open categories.
To qualify for the KZN team she needed above 82%, which she achieved in all three of the events she participated in.
This means she will participate in the SACOPA national event between 1–10 October. If she qualifies for the national team, she will represent South Africa at the World Championships of Performing Arts in Las Vegas, USA.
Michelle van der Merwe, owner of the Dance Academy and Cyden’s dance teacher, says, ‘Cyden has been a member of Dance Academy since 2018 and a prominent member of our senior cabaret group.’
‘She still manages to juggle school, long weekly classes, rehearsing and running her own after-school dance classes.
‘Her work ethic and compassion for her fellow dancers make her a unique student with an extremely bright future in dance.’
She needs to raise R14 500 to cover all expenses for the champs, which includes her entry fee, accommodation for the 10 days, and travel.
Anyone willing to help Cyden get to the national event is asked to contact Cyden’s mother Tarah, on 083 5735698.
