2021 Parliament for People with Disabilities and the celebration of International Day for People with Disabilities

The Speaker of KwaZulu-Natal Legislature, Hon. Nontembeko Boyce, and the Members will host the annual Parliament for People with Disabilities. This event will be followed by the provincial celebration of International Day for People with Disabilities, which the Premier of the Province Hon. Sihle Zikalala, will host in the King Cetshwayo District, uMthonjaneni Local Municipality.

The two events will be held as follows:  

  • Date: 1 to 3 December 2021
  • Time: 9am
  • Venue: Mthonjaneni Local Municipality, Melmoth Indoor Centre  

The Constitution of the Republic places an obligation on the Provincial Legislature to involve all sectors of society in the governance of the province and to give various sectors a platform to raise issues that affect them. The theme for this year’s Parliament is, ‘Leadership and participation of persons with disabilities toward an inclusive, accessible and sustainable post-COVID-19 world’.  

The Parliament for People with Disabilities will be followed by the provincial celebration of International Day for People with Disabilities to be celebrated on 3 December at the same venue.
