Father sentenced to life for rape of minor daughter

Mtubatuba man sentenced to life imprisonment for repeatedly raping young daughter in 2025

A Mtubatuba man was this week handed a life sentence for repeatedly raping his young daughter in 2025.

Mtubatuba Regional Court sentenced the man (30) who, the court heard, threatened his daughter if she told anyone about the abuse.

The offences came to light when the victim confided in her class teacher that her father, who cannot be named for protection of the child’s identity, had raped her on several occasions.

Her mother and social workers were contacted, and the accused was subsequently arrested.

In her victim impact statement, the child said she had trusted her father, but he betrayed that trust by hurting her in such an awful way.

“The NPA hopes that sentences of this nature will deter like-minded individuals. The accused had been entrusted with the care and protection of his child, but instead abused that position of trust and exploited her vulnerability,” said KZN Division NPA regional spokesperson Natasha Ramkisson-Kara.

As well as the life sentence, the man was declared unfit to possess a firearm and the court ordered that his name be entered into the National Register for Sex Offenders and the Child Protection Register.
