The organisation, which has been in existence for 121 years, is recognised and respected by a wide range of role players in the construction industry and beyond

Master Builders KwaZulu-Natal is an employers’ organisation registered in terms of the Labour Relations Act. It exists to represent the interests of members and provide them with specialist support services to assist in the successful running of their businesses.

The association engages with and lobbies local, provincial and national government, as well as suppliers and industry stakeholders, with a view to promote and protect its members. The association is committed to establishing and maintaining relationships with various stakeholders in the construction industry to formulate a collective response to common industry challenges. There are 715 members, which are enterprises involved in the construction industry and related activities in KZN.

The organisation, which has been in existence for 121 years, is recognised and respected by a wide range of role players in the construction industry and beyond. The promotion of the Master Builders KwaZulu-Natal brand, as well as the promotion of members, is facilitated through various on- and offline media channels.

The Master Builders KZN app connects members of the association to the world of work, enabling the public easy access to association members. The app, along with our Find-a-Builder and Find-a-Supplier web modules, significantly enhances the association’s ability to promote its members to the public at large. Members in good standing receive a free listing on these platforms, and may display the association logo alongside their own.

Members enjoy the benefit of being able to contact the association for free advice relating to building and contractual matters, and a site inspection can be arranged as required. Master Builders KwaZulu-Natal assists with the facilitation of disputes involving members. In addition, it has a Dispute Resolution unit offering contractors an affordable summary arbitration process. Health and safety requires members to comply with the relevant legislation.

The excellent safety management services provided by the association ensure members receive quality assistance and advice. The association is committed to promoting a positive culture shift which will facilitate continual improvement. This will, in turn, contribute towards the elimination of occupational injury, disease and loss, as well as the prevention of damage to the environment.

Master Builders KwaZulu-Natal is the administrator of the KZN Retirement and Provident Funds. A retirement fund is part of the fringe benefits that an employer can offer employees. Apart from the financial security it offers after retirement, it is a form of deferred pay appreciated by employees. Having a plan that offers savings for retirement, and which includes risk benefits, makes it easier for the employer to attract and retain competent employees.

The association prides itself as a one-stop business hub. In addition to the many free member services available, members are also entitled to discounted pricing on products and services provided by the commercial units. These include:

  • Occupational health clinic
  • Training academy
  • Occupational health & safety consulting
  • Recruitment agency
  • Print studio
  • Conference facilities

A variety of on- and offline communication channels are utilised to disseminate industry-pertinent information, and the association arranges meetings and events throughout the year for networking purposes.
