WATCH: uMngeni-uThukela Water Board approved, says minister

"Whatever water projects were on hold because there was no board will now be implemented."

A cabinet committee has approved the appointment of a new board at the newly-formed uMngeni-uThukela Water Board, which will be officially appointed on Wednesday, 13 September.

This was confirmed by Water and Sanitation Minister Senzo Mchunu when he undertook a site visit to Mtubatuba on Friday.

“Whatever water projects were on hold because there was no board will now be implemented,” said Minister Mchunu.

The minister’s visit to uMkhanyakude District was to inspect progress on the refurbishment and upgrading of water supply infrastructure in Mtubatuba, and is set to undertake a routine inspection of work under way in KwaMsane.

After suffering critical water supply issues over the last 10 or more years, residents of the greater Mtubatuba area can expect a steady stream ‘in due course’.
