At about 10am, Tebogo Gumede came into the house where the victim was, and demanded to have sexual intercourse with her. The victim refused.

Gumede drew a knife and threatened to stab her, raping her until her grandmother came in to rescue her.

The grandmother assaulted Gumede on his left side with a bush knife, and he ran away.

He was later arrested, found guilty, and sentenced. He was also declared unfit to possess a firearm.

In another matter, a 35-year-old man was sentenced by the same court to 22 years behind bars for the rape of his stepdaughter (33) in March last year.

The court heard that the victim was at her homestead with the assailant, who cannot be named for the protection of the woman’s identity, on the day in question.

At about 5pm, the man suddenly grabbed her and pulled her onto the bed and raped her. He was also declared unfit to possess a firearm.
