Richards Bay medical malpractice case postponed

The case will be back in court in February

APPEARING in the Richards Bay Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday, local surgeon accused of medical malpractice, Dr Avindra Dayanand will be back in court on 20 February after the matter was postponed for further information requested by his defence.

The 43-year-old medical professional was charged in August, two years after the death of Monique Vandayar (35) on 22 August 2019.

It is believed Vandayar passed away from complications following routine surgery, allegedly the consequence of medical negligence.
