Government pledges to solve estuary back-flooding issue plaguing communities

The Minister visited the iSimangaliso Wetland Park to inspect the destroyed farmlands

Forestry, Fisheries and Environmental Affairs Minister Barbara Creecy is liaising with the Department of Co-operative Governance and Traditional Affairs (Cogta) to find mechanisms or regulations in the Disaster Management Act that would allow for an expeditious resolution to the back-flooding that has destroyed farmlands on the flood plains of the Mfolozi river mouth.

Creecy on Friday visited the iSimangaliso Wetland Park to inspect the destroyed farmlands, and engage with affected communities.
