Given the advance notice of the EFF protest, both assured residents that public safety was paramount and plans were well in place on the part of the city and the SAPS to deal with any eventuality.
Regular strategy planning meetings have been taking place with numerous entities, including CPF structures, port officials, the business sector, and private security companies.
A call was made for the public not to spread alarmist and unsubstantiated social media messages.
Assurance was given that there would be constant communication on the day so residents were kept aware of possible road blockages or other necessary information.
