Travel is the ultimate stress reliever – survey

People who travel frequently for pleasure are more satisfied with their lives than non-travellers are

There is no greater stress release than to travel.

So says a study published by the Tourism Analysis Journal, which states, ‘People who travel frequently for pleasure are more satisfied with their lives than non-travellers are’.

On 20 March, International Day of Happiness was commemorated and, with a focus on mental health, the day calls for much reflection.

While stress is inevitable, it is essential to prioritise rest as stress is linked to many mental health issues like depression and anxiety.

Just like most people take a lunch break at work, so we need an escape from the daily grind.

“There is no doubt that taking a break and getting away from it all on a holiday is a great way to rejuvenate and de-stress, helping to release endorphins that can aid in boosting your immune system and add to your sense of overall happiness,” said Shaun Lamont, MD of First Group Hotels and Resorts.

According to Lamont, there are many benefits from beginning to end, such as pre-trip excitement, greater life satisfaction and strengthened family ties.

So, what do you plan for your next holiday?
