The police in Mtubatuba are appealing for assistance from members of the public with information that could help with solving a case after a body was found inside a stationary vehicle on the N2.
Mtubatuba SAPS spokesperson Captain Justice Hlabisa said a brigadier was called out to attend to the vehicle at the side of the freeway in the kwaShikishela area in the early hours of Tuesday.
The vehicle was facing north and its doors were wide open.
A man with gunshot wounds to his face and neck was found inside the car, said Hlabisa.
“Nine empty cartridges from a 9mm pistol were found inside the vehicle and one fully-loaded magazine. The deceased’s firearm and cellphone were missing,” he said.
Upon further investigations, Hlabisa added, it was discovered that the maroon Ford Ranger is registered to Amambeje Trading located in Folweni.
“Investigations are ongoing and we appeal to members of the public who may have any information to help the police with solving this case, to come forward,” said Hlabisa.
