Were you fooled in the fast lane?

The entire story was a figment of the imagination

WHY was the ‘trucks only’ right-hand lane system on the John Ross highway not implemented on Saturday?

It could have been because the signage and road markings were delayed owing to contractor or manpower tardiness, or because there had been second thoughts about how effective the traffic congestion solution would be.

Or maybe the reason was because the entire story was a figment of the imagination to begin with!

Saturday, the due date for implementation, was of course the first day of April and true to tradition, we tried to pull a fast one over our readers.

Thanks to Cllr Christo Botha for playing along and making it sound convincing.

In fact, it generated plenty of discussion on his Facebook page and, surprisingly, the majority of people seemed to think it was an idea worth trying.

However, there were those sharp-eyed ones who were not fooled and saw it for what it was.

Others took it extremely seriously and resorted to alternate suggestions and/or laying blame at the true source of the problem.

So chill out, drivers, you can continue life in the fast lane.

See you next year!
