Severe weather warning issued

The South African Weather Service (SAWS) has issued a warning for northern KZN

The South African Weather Service (SAWS) has issued a warning for level two severe thunderstorms for northern parts of KwaZulu-Natal, this afternoon.

The areas possibly to be affected are Abaqulusi, Big Five Hlabisa – Hlabisa, Hluhluwe, eDumbe, eMandlangeni, Jozini, Mthonjaneni, Mtubatuba, Nongoma, Ulundi, Umhlabuyalingana, uMhlathuze, uPhongolo.

The impact of the storms may cause localised flooding, damage to infrastructure, falling trees blocking of minor roads and difficult driving conditions.

Citizens are urged to take extreme caution and avoid outdoor activities due to lightning and hail, and travelling on bridges and roads in low-lying areas as flooding may result in injuries and, in extreme cases, death.
