City residents warned as dead fish found in Nsezi Weir
Samples have been sent for testing
City of uMhlathuze residents have been urged to not collect any dead fish or participate in fishing activities in the Mhlathuze river.
This after numerous dead fish were found floating at the Nsezi Weir, which extracts water from the Mhlathuze river.
Samples have been sent for testing by the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) to establish the cause of death.
The council has, however, assured residents that the system’s potable water remains safe for human consumption.
