Armed robbers hit Mtubatuba supermarket, cop shot and injured

A supermarket at a mall in Mtubatuba was reportedly the scene of an armed robbery on the weekend in which one police officer was shot and wounded.
The incident occurred at about 4.30pm on Sunday.
A source reported that a group of armed suspects barged into the store and, at gunpoint, forced cashiers to open their tills.
The amount of money believed to have been stolen is unknown at this stage.
The source said that the suspects left the store in two groups, and a policeman was shot and wounded during the ordeal.
Mtubatuba SAPS are yet to confirm the incident.
The police officer is believed to be recovering in hospital.
